More Info available at the OFF THE WALL YOUTH CENTRE, BLOOMS AWAY or contact Leigh at 905-873-7318 Miss Acton Fall Fair PAGEANT Continued on page 16 This years Miss Acton Pageant takes place this Friday, September 14 on the opening night of the fair in the new sports and display building. The pageant has been a part of Acton Fall Fair since 1963 and remains an integral part of both the fair week-end and the com- munity. The winner will begin a year long experience that will include representing the Agricultural Society and the commu- nity of Acton at numerous functions and events, including attending the Agricultural Convention held at the Royal York Hotel, Toronto, in February and the CNE Ambas- sador of the Fairs Pageant held in Toronto in August. In addition, Miss Acton is given the valuable opportunity to learn more about the town, its history, and the community of Halton Hills. It will give the winner experi- ence in the field of public relations and a chance to develop speaking abilities. Highlighted by meeting new people and enjoying new experiences, the winner will complete her year with an increased level of self confidence and a true sense of accomplishment and satisfaction, says Leigh Whiting, Chair of the Miss Acton Committee. The pageant is generously supported by local businesses and merchants in Acton. All the prizes winners receive are donated. The pageant format consists of a private interview with the panel of judges, an on- stage appearance and welcome greeting, and a two minute prepared speech on a pre-approved topic.
