Police allege a man was drinking on the tracks and became angry when two pedestrians on Eastern Ave. confronted him. One victim was struck in the face and the other was hit on the arm. Eric Lavallee is charged with assault causing bodily harm. Officer Charged An off-duty Peel Regional Police officer from George- town has been charged with failing to stop at the scene of an accident on Derry Rd., west of the Sixth Line on Thurs- day, Sept. 6 at 2:30am. Police said they were called to a single motor vehicle roll- over and found an injured man in the passenger seat of a black 2002 Chev Cavalier. It was determined the car driver had left the scene. Investigation indicated the car was travelling east on Derry Rd. when it entered curves just west of the Sixth Line. It skidded and left the road rolling into the north ditch. The 30-year-old male was taken to Milton hospital for treatment of a concussion and minor injuries. Shortly after 12p.m. the same day while Halton police were at the Milton hospital dealing with the passenger, the registered owner of the Cavalier appeared to be treat- ed for minor injuries. He was arrested there. Charged is Justin Vander- brink, 25, of Georgetown. He has been working as a Peel Regional Police Patrol officer for five years. He has been suspended. Fraud Schemes Halton Regional Police have been receiving numer- ous complaints from citizens within Milton and Halton Hills that they are receiv- ing mailings of Nigerian Frauds at their homes. The frauds entail the use of an advance fee scheme defined by police as follows: An advance fee fraud is a confidence trick in which the target is persuaded to ad- vance relatively small sums of money in the hope of realizing a much larger gain. Among the variations on this type of scam is the Nigerian Fraud. Halton Regional Police suggest the best course of action when receiving any type of communication of this nature via mail, Email, fax etc is not to respond.
