As the sun rose however, the weather improved dra- matically and it turned into a perfect day for the event. The official opening took place at 8 am with Actons Citizens of the Year Bill and Diane Spielvogel cutting the ribbon, with help from the newly crowned Miss Acton Fall Fair Emily Stirtzinger, fi rst runner-up Madison Ko- tack and second runner-up Cassandra Stoke. Also in attendance for the opening were the President of the Agricultural Society Dale Hewitt, second vice- President Frank Hanes, Miss Acton pageant committee member Natalie Tuitman, Mayor Rick Bonnette and his wife Josey, Councillor Clark Somerville, MPP Ted Ar- nott, and several volunteers and long time participants. Many families as well as single participants arrived throughout the day to run, walk, jog or cycle around the track. In doing so, they helped to continue Terrys dream of finding a cure for cancer.
