They appeared with their English hand bells last year and are bringing something new this year in the form of their chime choir. Christ Church has had English hand bells at their church for the past 15 years. About nine years ago they added a three octave set of chimes to enhance their learning curve with ringing. The chimes are made of a metal alloy which means that the ringer doesnt need to wear gloves to protect the ringing surface. The choir consists of 11 ringers, ranging in abilities from non-music readers to accomplished musicians under the conductorship of Joan Cobbold. Thousands of patients whose doctors work at the Acton Medical Centre no longer have access to a lo- cal lab to have their blood testing done. The private lab that oper- ated in the basement of the Mill Street Medical Centre closed last week, and will remain closed until further notice, because it doesnt have a lab technician. Chime Choir to appear at Trinity Private local lab was closed Staff at the medical cen- tre would not comment on the situation, except to say it was a private matter with the lab technician who recently left her job. A sign on the Medical Centre door, and an ad in this weeks The New Tanner asks for mature, ambitious lab technicians to submit their resumes. Prior to the closure, only patients of Doctors Alshakarji, Jayalath, Minc and nurse practitioner Roger Firsoff were able to use the lab - a sign on the door says the lab was not legally allowed to do lab work for outside patients. Patients needing blood work are being told to go to public labs. There are two in Georgetown, one on Princess Anne Drive beside the hospital, four in Guelph and two in Milton. Youd Better Watch Out this season for all the great deals at our local businesses! BEST LITTLE, BIG PRODUCTION: Globe Productions presented its rendition of The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas at Georgetowns John Elliot Theatre. The Theatre was full to capacity for each showing of the play which ran for two consecutive weeks. The play received great reviews from all who attended. Traci Gardner Photo
