Tonights the night! There will be several buses of sen- iors and care-givers touring the lights around Halton Hills this evening so please Switch on. Everyone looks forward to this event. Tyler provides two buses, and both drivers volunteer their time. They do a great research job before hand. Everyone enjoys the warm glow when they return to the Centre for hot drinks and seasonal goodies to get everyone in the mood for the coming festive season. This is a joint project of Ted, the drivers and the Acton Sen- iors Centre. The Acton Seniors Cen- tre will be closed over the Christmas holiday season, from noon on Wednesday Dec 24 and re-opening at 9 a.m. on Jan 5. Hopefully we will see many of you and your friends at the Fundraising Gala on Dec. 27. Tickets are available at the Centre, BMO (Bank of Montreal) RBC (Royal Bank) and Prosperity One (Acton Credit Union). Dont have a partner? No problem, you will soon make friends with a great group out to have fun, learn how to ballroom dance, enjoy the entertain- ment, dance, and enjoy the great company. The final touch will be a delicious light lunch at the end of the evening. Members who have re- cently joined the Centre will be invited to a new members lunch on Wednesday, Jan 28. This will give them the opportunity to meet Board members and find out what the Centre has to offer them. If you havent renewed your membership now is the time to do so. Membership runs from Jan. 1 Dec 31 each year. And the price remains the same as last year. $20.00, a bargain. Please make a note that our Annual General Meeting will be held on Tuesday, Feb 24. We will be voting for two board members. We have to fill the positions of Social Chairperson who organizes (with a committee) the vari- ous social activities over the year, and vice president. We have a working board, and meet monthly. If you would like more information please give Gerald Rennie a call at 519-853-0646. The next social dinner will be on Jan. 8. The cut-off date will be Monday Jan. 5. (The first day we are open after the holidays). The dinner will have an Italian theme. Lasagna and Caesar salad, followed by Tortufo ice cream. Everyone enjoyed playing bingo last time so, that will be the entertain- ment in January. Hopefully I will be able to manage three cards again this time. I am amazed how many cards some people play on a Fri- day afternoon. It certainly helps with the concentration, and the little grey cells. Thinking of dinners, did anyone take some small tablecloths home to launder? We are missing 13 card table size white cloths, also one of the trolleys in the kitchen. Did you borrow it? Please return them as soon as pos- sible. I also have to apologize to Marg Bromby who missed the Christmas lunch so she could serve the dinners to the seniors. Normally the Board members set up, and clear away, so this year they were able to enjoy their lunch and chat to members while the four high school students and Marg kept everything running smoothly. Thanks Marg. The birthday tea will be on Jan. 13, celebrating birth- days that fall in December and January. The Gals on the Go are planning a trip to the Aber- foyle Mill for dinner theatre (mystery play) in late Feb- ruary when we are over the Christmas celebrations and are experiencing the winner blahs. The trip to the Canadian Heritage Museum is going to be on Wednesday, March 19. Admission, a guide, lunch plus transportation is included in the price. If interested please sign the appropriate sheets. The travel desk is plan- ning several interesting trips in the next few months. Watch the column for more information as it becomes available, or check with the travel desk Monday or Fri- day mornings. I did hear a lot of enthusi- astic comments about the Simcoe trip. It snowed just in time to make everything beautiful; everyone agreed the lights were incredible and the meal at the Erie Beach Hotel in Port Dover was excellent. There was a large group playing canasta on Thursday morning. It was unusual to see three men playing. They would like more men to join them, especially the cribbage players. Its a great way of getting out of the house and meeting new people. I popped in at the right time, and they asked me to join them for lunch. One more meal I didnt need but enjoyed. I havent mentioned the Friday afternoon hiking group recently. That is one activity had has increased by leaps and bounds. There have been as many as 20 people hiking and enjoying the trails around the area. Fridays hike was to Hilton Falls and they had their an- nual picnic in the snow. The lucky winner of the 50/50 was Marie Richard- son. Marie usually plays Bingo on a Friday after- noon, but was missing this week and didnt hear the an- nouncement. Marie has $131 towards a Happy Christmas. Congratulations Marie.
