In game one, Acton faced St. Catharines and come out on the losing end fall- ing 5-1. Scoring the lone goal was Nicholas Jones with help from Jake Case and Ben Gray. In game two, the Chargers played Coronation (Hamil- ton) losing 4-1. Scoring for the Chargers was Makayla Dee, with assists going to Liam Weir and Jack Ken- nedy. In our first two games, we started off real slow and we were down 4-0 after the first periods in both contests, so in the second and third periods we outscored them 2-1 combined! I mentioned this to our team before the start of game three Sunday morning and they came out with their best effort from start to finish, says Coach Mike Case. In game three, Acton did come out on top, winning 3-0 against Niagara. With constant forchecking right from the opening face-off, it would finally pay off 3 minutes in, with Kyle Mac- Donald scoring from Jacob Caldwell and Jake Case. With the game going end to end, Acton had a slim 1-0 lead going into the 3rd period. With the drop of the puck to start the third, Jake Case made a great in- dividual effort scoring 12 seconds in, to put the Char- gers up 2-0. The Chargers defense would pinch at the right time with about 2 min- utes remaining to make it 3-0 with a goal from Kyle Spence. Assisting on the goal were Talon Fife and Ricky Villa. With solid goaltending throughout the tournament, Justin Percy came up big in the last game to get the shut out. Justin was once again, very sol- id in net, he made the big save when we needed it, he deserved the shutout! said Coach Case. If we could just take away those first periods in our first two games! said Coach Case. Thats part of the game, you have to take the good with the bad and the bad with the good. As a coaching staff, we are all very proud of the way they played in the tour- nament. They never quit in any of the three games. Next up for the Novice team is a game January 15 when they travel to Guelph.
