Cancer Assistance Servi- ces of Halton Hills is in its 9th year of operation and the need continues for the ser- vices we provide. We have served over 900 patients; our drivers have covered tens of thousands of miles; our pa- tient services such as Reike, Yoga, Nia, Support Group, are well established; our equip- ment and food supplements are leaving the premises on a daily/weekly basis, but we need your support now in order to maintain the same level of service tomorrow as Officers from the Welling- ton OPP Traffic Management Unit conducted 4 hours of motorized snow vehicle patrol on the Ontario Feder- ation of Snowmobile Clubs (OFSC) trails on Monday, Jan 19 and nabbed two a man and a girl for of- fences At approximately 4:05pm officers stopped the oper- ators. A 20 year old male from East Garafraxa Town- ship is charged with Drive Motorized Snow Vehicle Permit Not Issued and Per- mit Operation of Snow Vehicle with No Insurance. An 18 year old female from Oakville was charged with Fail to Produce Evidence for Insurance under the Motor- ized Snow Vehicle Act. The two were escorted off the OFSC trail and had to make arrangements to have their snowmobiles taken home. Police are reminding snowmobile operators they are obligated to carry docu- ments with them when operating a motorized snow vehicle including. A valid driver s licence or motorized snow vehicle operators licence, Evidence of the vehicles registration Proof of insurance - the vehicle must be in- sured under a motor vehicle liability policy under the In- surance Act Operators must produce these documents to a po- lice officer or S.A.V.E. or S.T.O.P. officers upon de- mand. I t cos t s rec rea t iona l snowmobilers $240 if they attempt to ride trails operated by the OFSC without a valid Snowmobile Trail Permit. In addition, if they wish to continue riding OFSC trails, they will still have to pay To the editor, There seems to be a com- plete divergence of opinion about fluoride. I question this because the people like Dr Nosal/Levin are supposed to protect non-informed people from harming themselves. How then are these doctors so arrogant that they will not look at facts provided by other doc- tors and researchers that the have only one opinion that fluoride is good medicine no matter how much you ingest, or at what age. The stance taken by the federal govt Health Canada is pretty much the same. The debate is all about how good fluoride is for teeth. That, in my opinion, is just camou- flage this is not, and never has been about teeth. Even OHIP does not cover teeth, though teeth are very import- ant part of wellness. So why do our good doctors only talk teeth? The reason is simple divert attention. Keep talking about teeth and no one will have the audacity to talk against these doctors and talk health. Fluoride is all about getting rid of a toxic chemical and since not one of these doctors looks at the impact on health, fish and wildlife they talk teeth. Town dumps, as I understand it do not want fluoride so why dump it in water? The whole fluoride debate is a joke. It wastes tax mon- ies. Peoples time. The people selling it have big bank ac- counts to promote it. On the other hand, the anti-fluoride people have no one, except Repeat speeder on Trafalgar Road OPP nab two operators on local snowmobile trails the $230 fee for purchasing a current Snowmobile Trail Permit. Wellington OPP also want to remind snow vehicle operators that when a po- lice officer, in the lawful execution of his or her dut- ies requires the driver of a motorized snow vehicle to stop, the driver shall im- mediately come to a safe stop. Failing to do so could cost you a fine of not less than $1,000 and not more than $10,000; imprisonment for a term of not more than six months or both a fine and imprisonment. Drivers and passengers must all wear helmets unless you are on land occupied by the owner of the vehicle and even then it is highly recom- mended for safety. To operate a motorized snow vehicle along a high- way a person must be 16 and have a valid drivers licence or a motorized snow vehicle operators licence. To operate motorized snow vehicle upon a trail, the per- son must have reached the full age of 12 years; and have a motorized snow vehicle operators licence. Operators should also keep in mind that in oper- ating your motorized snow vehicle on property without the owners permission they could face charges under the Trespass to Property Act as well as Criminal Code char- ges if they cause damage to that property. Wellington OPP patrol highways and trails by pa- trol cars and motorized snow vehicles. Both are equipped with radar units. we provide today. Organizing a campaign of such magnitude as the Cancer Assistance Services Resi- dential April Campaign does not just happen over a short period of time. A great deal of time and effort goes into getting the campaign running smoothly. There are various levels of responsibility but not one level any more im- portant than the other. The April campaign is our major source of revenue and we need volunteers. We do not canvass door to door. We walk all of Acton and leave literature at each door. Please call and volunteer, if not for yourself then for your family, friends and co-work- ers. Dont deny someone their choice to call CAShh for help. Contact Anna Mae Moore at 905-702-8886. Anna Mae Moore Campaign Manager Look for volunteers themselves. It is ironic that taxpayers keep shelling out good money after bad, and give themselves bad health in the process. I have asked for more govt information on the effect fluor- ide has on fish. I never seem to get replies with facts, and yet there is a video produced that says without any doubt fluor- ide kills fish. So if it kills fish I assume it is reasonable to think it will kill us. But I wonder of our doctors even care? Who knows how much fluoride goes into our rivers and streams from waste water and sewage. One heck of a lot. You would think environ- mentalists would be screaming but if they are I have never heard them. Perhaps they be- lieve the stuff put out by some doctors who knows? One of the interesting things is that this debate has been go- ing on for years I wonder why. My guess is follow the money to heck with anything else. The usual thing that is said Health Canada says its ok so so do I. Well, Aspartame, Splenda, Nutrasweet and all the toxic sweeteners are approved. They should be banned. Doc- tors at one time said smoking is good. But times change, and it is time for our doctors to change, as well as our council wasting money on this stuff. Lets show the rest of Can- ada that health is the issue and they can make all of our people healthier by one simple action eliminating fluoride from our drinking water. John Shadbolt Acton. Flouride debate continues District 1 Traffic officers (serving Milton/Halton Hills) began their 2009 traffic safety initiatives, on January 20 with officers conducting speed enforcement operations on Trafalgar Road south of Hwy 401. This particular section of roadway is a 60kph construction zone. At 10:30 am, police speed laser caught a vehicle speed- ing northbound at almost double the speed limit (119kph in a posted 60kph zone). The 22 year old driver (a Mis- sissauga resident) tried to justify his speed by being late for work. Police said. The driver was charged with Stunt Driving (excessive speed) under section 172 of the High- way traffic Act. His drivers licence was suspended for seven days and the vehicle he was driving (owned by his parents) was impounded for seven days. A check of the drivers record revealed he had his li- cence suspended for the same offence only 15 months earlier. If convicted, the driver faces a minimum fine of $2000 (up to a maximum of $10,000), a driving suspen- sion of up to two years and potentially even jail. Excessive speeds are a significant factor in crashes re- sulting in injury or death. Halton Police are reminding drivers. Speeding decreases driver reaction time, increases braking distance and also increases the likelihood of ser- ious injury if involved in a collision. Slowing down, being more realistic about commuting times and showing greater tolerance to fellow drivers can greatly reduce the risk of collisions on roadways.
