X-Marks The Fitness Spot Sharks nudged the DNR Contracting Devils 3-2 in the first game of Acton Ladies Playoff Hockey Fri- day night while the Cougars and Lightning played to a draw. Annette Kroezen led the Shark attack with two goals. Carrie Gallant ripped a shot in the top corner after Josey Bonnette won the draw to give the Sharks an early first period lead. Erin Donnelly got the Devils on the board with an assist to Jane Tivendale. Annette Kroezen got that one back when she was put in a clear cut breakaway by Lindsay Bous- field. Carolyn Hill tied the game for the Devils late in the third period with a helper from Karen McDonald. Kroezen became the Shark hero as she scored a power play goal with 3.4 seconds remaining in the game. Josey Bonnette and Carrie Gallant received assists. In the second game the Staying Alive Fit- ness Cougars and Acton Optical Lightning fought to a 1-1 tie. Jane McKay struck first for the Lightning on an unassisted goal in the first period. Leanne Monaghan replied for the Cougars in the second period. Becky Kaye and Caroline Adema got the helpers. The third period remained scoreless to pre- serve the Sister Kisser. Each team received a point in these round robin playoffs. This Friday the Devils host the Cougars at 10p.m. while the 11pm game sees the Sharks facing off against the Lightning. This will complete the first round of the playoffs. The championship game will be on Friday, March 27; times to be determined. Acton Ladies Hockey is the place to be Friday night at Acton Arena!
