We want to give something back to the community where were located. explained Alec Boyd, owner/manager of the Acton store, known for its willingness to sup- port the community. Until March 29, people can give their Giant Tiger sales receipts to their charity of choice. The recipi- ent charity can them turn them in to Giant Tiger by April 3 and receive $10 gift certificates for every $100 worth of sales receipts. I think its really going to be good for a lot of charities with the current economy, its perfect timing and will definitely help people out, Boyd said, adding hes expecting an overwhelming re- sponse after speaking with several local charities. They see it as a huge way of raising funds, es- pecially for the food bank. We do a lot of business with FoodShare and they can make good use of gift cards, along with the Salvation Army, Boyd said. Boyd said local schools and churches could also be involved, as long as they have a charitable tax receipt number and are in the Giant Tiger trading market.
