It was Sister Kissers all around In the first game the Staying Alive Fitness Cougars and the DNR Contracting Devils played to a 0-0 tie. Janette Jensen and Louise Keunzig each Last Saturday evening the Acton Houseleague Hockey Association (AHHA) held their annual Sponsorship/ Coachs Appreciation dinner and dance. Over 100 people showed up to enjoy a night of dancing and a catered meal at Rockmosa Community Center in Rock- wood. Many sponsors were on hand to cele- brate the special event as well as coaches and parents from the Houseleague Hock- ey Association. Presented during the evening was the AHHAs Annual Presidents trophy. Award winner this year is Mike Daw- kins, who was presented the award by Ted Saelzer, current president of the AHHA. This award is presented annu- ally to an AHHA board member who has gone over and beyond during the sea- son to help the kids of Halton Hills have fun in the recreational hockey league as well as spend many more hours helping out the league in its numerous activ- ities including coaching, convening and spending many more hours fundraising and helping out in other Houseleague related initiatives. Many prizes given out during the even- ing: Carrie Gallant was the winner of a free hockey registration for next season. Carrie is also a league sponsor repre- senting Nova Training & Consulting. Other prize winners included Dan De- tweiler who won a pair of tickets to the 1st annual AHHA golf tournament be- ing held June 6 at Acton meadows golf club. The league was thankful to all of its sponsors for their support during the season as well as all of the volunteers who put many hours of their own time to ensure the kids in Halton Hills enjoy hockey in Acton. Kuenzig made an enormous save in the dying seconds preserv- ing the tie. In the second game X Marks the Fitness Spot Sharks and the Acton Op- tical Lighting battled to a 1-1 tie. Carrie Gallant put the Fish up 1-0 with a power play goal. Liz Holmes drew the assist. Daina McKellar tied it late in the second period with an assist to Andrea Martin. From there on, Shark goalie Jen Swan and Light- ning goalie Joanne Cooper took turns making spark- ling saves to keep the tie. This Friday, the Sharks host the Cougars at 10pm. The 11pm game sees Devils facing off against Lightning. The Cham- pionship game will be on Friday, March 27, times to be determined. Some more great ladies hockey playoff action comes to the Acton arena this Friday night.
