Easter is a time of joy, a celebra- tion of the triumph of life over death and all of Ac- tons churches will mark the holiest event of the year with special services. A t K n o x P r e s b y - t e r i a n C h u r c h , t h e congregation will celebrate Maundy Thursday tonight at 7:30p.m., with a Com- munion service. Maundy Thursday of Holy Week is associated with the last Supper. On Good Friday, they will join the procession of the Cross and take part in the 7:30p.m. service at Be- thel. The procession begins at Churchill Community Church at the Third line and 32 Side Road at 5:30 p.m., and proceeds to vari- ous Acton churches where verses of hymns will be sung and prayers read as the group picks up more worshippers along the way to the Christian Reformed church for refreshments and a 7:30p.m. service. That service will be moved to Knox if the weather is not good. Knox will have a service of worship at 10:30a.m., and all are invited. For the first time, the annual procession of the Cross in Acton will make its way from Churchill Community Church to the Bethel Christian Reformed Church instead of Trinity United Church. At the end of the pro- cession, refreshments will be served, and at 7:30p.m. there will be a Shadows and Stones Tenebre ser- vice. On Easter Sunday at Be- thel the Signs of Hope and Joy service at 10a.m. will feature the music of the mens choral group with a guest trumpeter and violin- ist. At St. Alban the Mar- tyr Anglican Church on Good Friday there will be a three-hour solemn ser- vice beginning at 9a.m. At 10:30a.m. there will be chil- drens program featuring egg decorating. Hot cross buns and beverages will be available in the lower par- ish hall. A 12-hour prayer vigil begins at 8 p.m. on Good Friday, wrapping up with a breakfast at 8:15 on Glori- ous Saturday morning. Easter Sunday services are slated for 9 and 10:30a.m. The congregation of Trin- ity United Church will join in the procession of the Cross on Good Friday, and on Easter Sunday services are scheduled at 10 a.m. Many members of Trinity will join the congregation of Churchill Community Church for a 7 a.m. sunrise service on Easter Sunday and then attend the Trinity service at 10 a.m. The Acton Corp of the Salvation Army will mark Easter with a 10:30 a.m. service on Good Friday and an Easter Sunday service at 11 a.m. At St. Joseph Patron of Canada Catholic Church tonight (Thursday) there will be a Mass of the lords Supper at 8 p.m., followed by Adoration until midnight and then a small Night pray- er service. Police allege the man arrested in Milton is tied to a house on Appleby Line in Burlington where police dismantled a 780 plant marijuana grow operation. police also seized a sawed off shotgun in Oakville that had the serial number removed. Forensic experts are currently examining the weapon. The investigation also included the arrest of a Brampton man in Toronto for trafficking cocaine in connection with three drug sales to an undercover cop in the Georgetown area in March. Eight pounds of marijuana and $3,000 cash was seized at the Brampton address. Halton Detective Glenn Mannella said no one was living at the Nassagaweya grow op where the entire house had been converted into a greenhouse with plants at various stages of development. There is a single family dwelling on the property with a couple of out build- ings (and) a barn. The house had been converted for the purpose of a grow operation. It had been div- ided into a couple of rooms with different plants at dif- ferent stages of growth, Detective Mannella said on Monday, adding the prop- erty owners name was not released. it was pretty large scale fairly sophisticated, Mannella said adding po- lice at this point dont know where the drugs were head- ed for sale. Detective Jeff leder said that all of the search and arrest warrants were exe- cuted without incident. The Dublin line resident came home while police were at his house and was arrested. At both the Nassawaweya and Burlington properties police found sophisticated motion activated security systems. Charged with production of marijuana, possession of marijuana for the purpose of trafficking and posses- sion of property obtained by crime is 25-year-old paul lemiski of Dublin Line, Acton. Don Wolf, 36, of pine Avenue, Milton is charged with two counts of pro- duction of mari juana, possession of marijuana and possession of mari- juana for the purpose of trafficking. Anita Delvin, 27 of the same Milton ad- dress was charged with production and possession of marijuana. lemiski and Wolf ap- peared at a bail hearings on Monday and were released on their own recognizance and will be back in court on April 21 in Milton. Delvin appears in Milton court on May 5. police said the investiga- tion continues.
