This is part of an increased investment from gas taxes of about $1 billion for municipalities in Ontario this year. This latest announcement builds on the Conservative governments previous ac- tion of making the gas tax transfers to municipalities permanent. This years doubling of the gas transfers will help Halton Hills maintain local infrastructure. like roads, bridges and water treatments systems. The first payment will be made this month. (April) The federal gas tax transfers to munici- palities will provide a total of $2 billion per year for municipalities. The Govern- ment of Canada is accelerating the first payment of the gas tax fund by almost three months, making up to $1 billion available to municipalities almost three months early. The first payment will be made in April. Through Canadas Economic Action plan, The Government of Canada is building on the existing federal invest- ment of $33 billion in infrastructure with almost $12 billion in new infrastructure stimulus funding over the next two years. Our government is proud to be work- ing with provinces and municipalities to deliver stable. predictable funding for infrastructure that Canadians use and de- pend on every day, said Chong. By Frances Niblock The sudden announce- ment that the Reverend Canon Mark Tiller was resigning from St. Al- bans the Martyr Anglican Church shocked the con- gregation when they heard the news during church services last Sunday. Cannon Tiller, well- loved and respected by church members, had been at St. Albans for 15 years. Easter Sunday will be his last day at St. Albans, and he will take over as Rec- tor of Grace Church in Waterdown in May after a two-week break. He will continue to reside in Rock- wood. St. Albans congre- gate and Anglican Sinnot Council member Cindy Blades said people were shocked and dismayed by Canon Tillers decision to Canon Mark Tiller shocks St. Albans with move Feds double gas funds Town gets $1.5 million leave Acton. He is a people person and so easy to talk to, Blades said on Tuesday. He is someone that you can go to with sugges- tions for services and he is always very accommo- dating and easy going.
