Rockwood Firefighters honour Arnott The Puslinch Township Fire Department and the Firefighters Associa- tion of Ontario recently thanked Wellington-Hal- ton Hills MPP Ted Arnott for his work on behalf of all Ontario firefighters. Without you, many of our causes would have fallen by the wayside, wrote Darren Storey of the Firefighters Asso- ciation in an email to Arnott. The Firefighters Asso- ciation presented Arnott with a plaque in recog- nition of [his] continued support for all Firefight- ers in the Province of Ontario. The second plaque ac- knowledged Arnott as an honourary member of the association. Since he was first elect- ed in 1990, Arnott has worked on many priorities important to firefighters including: Pushing for presump- tive legislation to extend workers compensation to volunteer firefighters; Standing up for the right of double-hatter firefighters to volunteer in their home communities; Introducing legisla- tion to provide the highest possible level of workers compensation coverage; and Passing legislation to allow firefighters to use flashing green lights in their personal vehicles. Drunk drivers charged A 45-year-old Guelph man was charged with hav- ing over 80-milligrams of alcohol in 100-millilitres of blood, driving without a licence and disobeying a stop sign following a two vehicle accident on Victoria Road at Conserv- ation Road on Saturday at 11:50 a.m. Wellington OPP report that a 1992 Sierra pickup truck, eastbound on Con- servation Road, did not stop at the intersection of Victoria and collided with a northbound Toyota. The driver, 44-year-old Alli- son Montgomery and her seven-year-old daughter of Breslau were taken to Guelph Hospital as a pre- caution. The pickup driver failed a roadside breath test and will be in court on Janu- ary 24. *** A 24-year-old Hamil- ton man was charged with impaired driving, having over 80-milligrams of al- cohol in 100-millilitres of blood on Sunday after police responded to a call about a pickup truck stuck in the ditch on the Fifth Line near 15 Side Road of Guelph-Eramosa Township. The driver failed a road- side screening test and will be in court on Janu- ary 20.
