NEW Newstand Price 40 + GST Acton ready for Olympic Torch Relay By Frances Niblock Saturday Day 51 of the Olympic Torch Relay will see the fl ame cross into Acton at 7:57 a.m. in the area of Highway 7 and the Fourth Line, handed off to Aaron Wolkoff from Thornhill, the fi rst of seven people who will carry the fl ame through the Town before it continues to Milton. Approximately 12.000 people in 1,000 com- munities will have the opportunity to carry the torch the symbol of the Olympic Games that left Olympia Greece on October 22 and will arrive in Vancouver for the opening cere- monies of the Olympics. Of the four names that have been released of people selected to carry the torch in Acton just one woman Barbara Thompson, an RBC employee lives locally. Paul Nieuwland cur- rently lives in Mississauga, but was an Acton resident when he entered the Coke contest. No information is available about Shaun Stillman. Three Acton people selected to carry the torch are doing so in other communities each per- son was asked to selected three locations and were slotted in by relay offi cials. Town officials said they probably would not know the names of the other three people slated to carry the torch through Town until 5:30 a.m. on Saturday.
