Christmas came early for local Halton Hills resident Debbie Millar when she was spotted shopping at Pats Prime Cuts and Deli in Georgetown South. Shop Local Spotter Mayor Rick Bonnette pro- vided a big thank you to Ms. Millar by surprising her with a Shop Local - Shop Halton Hills bag filled with merchandise and gift certificates from local merchants from throughout Halton Hills. The Millar family moved to George- town this past July and has been impressed with the service and the variety of products available on her doorstep. She said We moved here for the small town atmosphere and have found the community very welcoming and friendly. Local Shops value you more, evidence from numerous surveys show people re- ceive better customer care and service in local shops. Shop Local -Shop Halton Hills is a community wide project by the business community to promote and educate consumers that it pays to shop in Halton Hills. Letter to the Editor: I would like to take this opportunity to thank the staff at The New Tanner for their excellent cover- age of the Olympic Torch Relay and the downtown Acton BIA Old Fashioned Christmas in last weeks issue. You did an excellent job! A great day was had by all. I was overwhelmed by the crowds that turned out Comrades, Branch President Wes Kutasienski and his en- tire executive wish the membership a very merry Christmas and a safe and prosperous New Year. Last Saturday the Kara- oke lived up to its billing, and a most enjoyable day was had by those in at- tendance. Shut-ins As I have done in the past, I am giving your memories a nudge re- garding those friends who are no longer able to get out and about. That five minute phone call can be a lifeline; a re- minder to them that they are not forgotten at this festive time. Do it now be- fore you forget, you will for the Torch! I would like to say a special thank you to Santa who helped me all week putting up the tree at the Old YMCA building and the display in the park- ette. Jon, I couldnt have done it without you! Special thanks to Rick Smith, Claire and Ron, Dave Quinn and my Santas little helpers (who are too many to name) for your help on Saturday with the Torch Relay and Old Fash- ioned Christmas. I love living in Acton, the small town charm, people helping people and the community coming together to make Acton a better place to live. Thank you, and Merry Christmas to you all. Josey Bonnette Thanks all around to the community feel better for making that call. New Years Eve Tickets are still available at the bar, $30 each. There will be a cold buffet, party favours, and bus transport home for in town residents (11:00 p.m. - 1:00 a.m.) Steve Dunn will be pro- viding the music for your listening and dancing pleasure. I suggest you pick up your tickets early as there will be a limited number. Presidents Levee January 1st The Pres iden t and Executive invite you to celebrate the New Year starting at noon.
