Acton girl burned in freak accident A 15-year old Acton girl is recovering from second degree burns on her chin and neck after a freak ac- cident at the Acton KFC restaurant on Saturday. Kendell Lakin suf- fered an epileptic seizure and fell face-first into her order of hot poutine. Customers rushed to her side and called 911. She was taken to hospital and treated. Her father was report- edly not impressed with the response from KFC officials who said gov- ernment food standards require gravy meals to be served at between 140 and 165 degrees Fahrenheit. Board apologises for errant call Over 2,000 people with students at Halton schools got a rude awakening at 5 a.m. on Saturday when their phone rang with an automated message from the Halton District School Board about inclement weather school closures and cancelled transporta- tion. The automatic phone message was sent in error to homes where parents subscribe to the Boards Syner- voice Home Notification System. The Board apologised for the disruption and said it will ensure that it can not happen again. Police/Fire Report Garbage fire An employee of Giant Tiger was able to extin- guish a fire in a garbage bin in the parking lot before Acton firefighters arrived on scene at 5:13 last Thurs- day afternoon. False alarm The owner of a residence on the Sixth Line, north of 25 Side Road, was advised to have their alarm system serviced after Acton fire- fighters responded to an alarm activation at 3:26 on Monday and couldnt find any reason for the alarm. Car vandalized The windshield, taillight and passenger side win- dow of a Pontiac Grand Prix parked in the area of Regional Road 25, south of 32 Side Road, were smashed overnight Janu- ary 16. Police have no suspects.
