Marg Haring was captain of the Brown team and Mary Walsma captain of the Black. The birthday tea was well attended and 26 members and their guests braved the cold to celebrate being born in December and January. Joyce Marrow invited her friend Sallie Cowell who is visiting from Kent, England and also celebrating her birthday this month. The next social dinner will be on Tuesday, February 16 and will have a Canadian theme. On the menu is every ones favourite Swiss Chalet Chicken. Tickets are on sale now. Friday Lunches! We have to return to the original policy of a cut off date for the Friday lunches. You must register by Wednesday at noon. There will be a limit of 40 people (with a waiting list). It just takes a phone call to get your name on the list if you are unable to get to the Centre. Please try and help make life easier for the hard working Friday lunch ladies. It is very hard to cater when the numbers increase at the last moment. The Gals on the Go are planning to revisit Mohawk on Monday, June 21. I have arranged for us to have the buffet dinner and we will take a Tyler bus. It will leave the Centre at 6 p.m. prompt, and return at 10:30 p.m. That should leave lots of time to enjoy the dinner, place a few bets on the horses, or even play the slots. If you are interested please sign up as soon as possible so I can confirm numbers with Mohawk. It might be cold and snowy outside, but we are thinking Spring at the Centre. Our Spring Bazaar is on May 8. Marj McDonough is looking for New items only for the penny table. She said Please no candles. If you do have something you would like to donate please give her a call. Due to lack of interest the trips to Cambridge and Flamboro on January 14 and to Burlington to Swing away the Winter Blues and Mother Tuckers on Febru- ary 10 are both cancelled. There was a full bus to Rama on Wednesday, Jan. 20. The price included not only lunch but a show, Neil Goldbergs Cirque Dreams Illumination. This took the place of the usual Rama trip which is usu- ally on the last Wednesday of the month. The trip to Freedom 85 in Orangeville on Wednesday, March 3 still has some room. Betty is also arranging a trip to Canada Blooms on Sunday, March 21. We will be traveling with Great Canadian, and will car pool to Milton for a pick up. Sign up if you are interested. Mark you calendar for the AGM on Tuesday, Febru- ary 23. Bill Krever will be making a presentation on the Building Bridges project. This will be your opportunity to ask questions and vote on the new members of your board for 2010. Please call Margaret Anderson, chair of the nominat- ing committee, if you are interested in a position on the board. The three year terms of hard working board members Jill Teatreault, Jane McAllister and Pat Jones are up this year, so we are looking for members with fresh ideas, and enthusiasm, to fill the positions of Program Chair, Membership Chair and Reception Chair. Mary Walsmas mother in law passed away last week, and the Centre would like to extend our sympathy to Mary and Hank. The weekly 50/50 draw was not won again this week, so the amount next week should be around $300. This might give you the incentive needed to visit the Centre and put your loonie in the box.
