ACTON E n t e r t o W i n Hockey Tickets Blue Springs Taxi out of business By Frances Niblock Concerns over public safety prompted Hal- ton Hills councillors to vote to refuse to issue a business licence, taxi broker licence and taxi owners licence to Al Bickers of Blue Springs Taxi. In a closed door session on Monday night, councillors also voted to direct staff to revoke Bickers taxi cab brokers licence and taxi cab owners licence for failure to comply with the Towns licensing requirements. The Town temporarily suspended the com- panys operating licences for three days last week over failure to comply with provincial and Town vehicle inspections. Blue Springs was issued temporary licences and it had at least one cab back on the road, beginning last weekend. Despite repeated attempts by staff to re- solve on-going concerns about required vehicle inspections, using licensed drivers and main- taining three licensed taxis, Blue Springs has failed to comply with licensing requirements, Mayor Rick Bonnette said on Tuesday, adding Blue Springs Taxi has 15 days to appeal the Towns licence refusals and revocations to the Towns Community Affairs Committee. At press time, Bickers had not responded to a request for comment because he was in a To- ronto hospital.
