Trailing the best of five ser- ies 1-0, they headed to Erin for game two. Caleb Downs opened the scoring with as- sists going to Tristan Wight and Spencer Booth. EH re- sponded less than a minute later to tie the game and took an early second period lead, but a goal by Wight assisted by Downs and Daniel Nas- cimento tied it up. EH took a quick 3-2 lead, but Downs equalized the game on a nice set up from Nascimento. Nic Jones scored late in the second period, with the assist going to Booth. Some key saves from Se- bastian Woods kept EH off the scoreboard for the re- mainder of the game ending with a 4-3 Tanner victory. EH open the scoring mid way through the first period. Nascimento responded quickly with the lone assist going to Dylan Palmer. Wight scored late in the first period to put the Tanners up 2-1, with assists going to Jones and Stew- art Macdonald. EH scored the lone goal in the second to tie things up at two, but Nascimento beat the EH goalie once again off a nice feed from Ryan McAskill. Thanks to the strong defen- sive play of Michael Holmes, Zachary Booth and Josh Hamilton, EH was held off the scoreboard in the third. Jones scored late in the game with the assist going to Kyle Spence, to end any hopes of an EH come back, final score 4-2. Heading back to Acton for game 4 leading the series 2-1, the Novice Tanners were hoping to finish the series in front of a large supportive home crowd. Jones started things off with a quick goal on a nice set up from Luke Miehm and Booth. EH re- sponded with a goal of their own to end the first tied at 1. EH scored the lone goal in the second to go ahead 2-1. EH scored two quick goals in the third to take the lead 4-1. Nascimento scored shortly after, with assists going to Downs and Declan Harrison. The Tanners found themselves in some penalty trouble, but Miehm scored a beauty top shelf goal, with the Tanners two men short to close the gap to 4-3, that would be as close as they would get. Heading back to Erin for the deciding game of the series, the Tanners came out flying. After some strong defensive play and some great saves by Woods, the first period ended scoreless. Palmer found the back of the net to open the scoring in the second on a nice pass from Macdonald. Downs then found himself on a break a way and made a great move to put the Tanners ahead 2-0. EH responded a minute later to make it 2-1. Heading into the third, Nascimento scored in the first minute, with the assist going to Jones. Once again EH responded quickly to close the gap to 3-2. Un- fortunately EH scored two goals in the final six min- utes, to win the game 4-3, and to win the hard fought series three games to two. The Novice Tanners wish to thank all of the fans who came out to support them throughout the regular sea- son, and the playoffs. STUDENT SERVE: The Robert Little School volleyball team hosted Glen Wil- liams in elementary school volleyball league action last week. With great volleys from Grade four student Victoria McCutcheon, the match ended in a tie with both teams winning two games.
