In Acton Ladies Hockey, the Active Choice Sharks took the championship crown by defeating the Acton Op- tical Lightning 3 1. It was a highly entertaining game. Shark Mary Joosten scored a first period unassisted goal. Lightning struck back in the second period on a goal from Kim Bandy, assisted by Tina McLeod and Tammy Barclay-Smith. In the third period, the Sharks had a doc- tor in the house. Dr. Dana Selby bulged the twine twice for the Sharks. Her first goal was 26 seconds into the third period. Both goals were as- sisted by Janet Garton and Jackie Wilson. I am proud of our ladies as it was a total team ef- fort. said Active Choice Coach Rick Bonnette. The Lightning is a well coached team by Bucky Kirkpatrick. Ladies hockey in Acton has come a long way. All the ladies in the league have worked very hard to improve their skills. In the second game, DNR Contracting Devils knocked off the Smooth & Trendzy Cougars 3-1 to win the con- solation prize. The Devils got off to a quick start scoring three unanswered goals in the second period. Deb Evans, Liz Holmes and Carolyn Hill were the snipers. Lori Mc- Intyre, Linda Vickery, Kim Nyitrai, Evelyn Bedard and Becky Kaye all had helpers. Sarah Blanchet replied for the Cougars from Belinda McDonald.
