Independent & Free Press, Wednesday, January 2, 2008 19 When the weather outside is frightful it can be hard to get out and about, even for the most able- bodied person. But for some people, a trip out to their local public library is not possible, even in the best of weather. This is where the Halton Hills Public Librarys Library on Wheels Service can help. The Library on Wheels Service is free for anyone who is both eligible for a Halton Hills Public Library membership and who is unable to visit the library due to age, ill health or disability. Each month, a library volunteer delivers library materials to your door. Anything that can nor- mally be checked out of the library can be delivered, including books, audiobooks, DVDs, magazines and more. If reading regular print presents a problem, then there are many alter- natives. The library has a collection of large-print books, both fiction and non-fiction. There are also audio- books available on cassette tape and compact disc. In addition, the library has a special collection of audio- books that have been produced by the CNIB. The CNIB audiobooks are available to anyone who has a med- ically confirmed condition which prevents him or her from reading print. Anyone wishing to register to receive the Library on Wheels Service can contact me, Clare Hanman, at 905-873-2681 extension 2512. Referrals from family, friends, and local agencies are also accepted. Our Library on Wheels Service would not be possible without the dedication of our fabulous volun- teers. If you are looking for a volun- teer opportunity and you have a valid drivers licence, we would love to have you join our team. We deliv- er to Georgetown, Acton and sur- rounding areas, so your delivery route can keep you close to home while you provide a much-needed service within our community. Please call 905-873-2681 extension 2512 if you would like to help.
