Conservation Halton (CH) has issued a flood advisory that will remain in effect until Sunday and is urging all residents to use extreme caution this weekend. The environmental agency, which constantly monitors stream and weather conditions, is send- ing out the message to be extremely careful around bodies of water this weekend and to stay back from stream banks. The flood advisory was sent out Wednesday morning as a result of the weather office forecast- ing 15 to 22 mm of rainfall Wednesday night and early into Thursday. Due to the recent rainfall, snowmelt and the wet soil conditions throughout the watershed, the water levels in area streams are currently above normal and are anticipated to remain high and increase further in response to the anticipated rainfall, said a CH spokesperson. Localized flooding in low-lying areas is also possible. In the advisory, CH warned that higher-than- normal stream flows and slippery stream banks will result in dangerous conditions along streams. It stated all watercourses within the watershed should be considered dangerous during this time. Where was the public consultation on this matter?, he asked. Have other partners been sought to fundraise and restore the house? asked Carroll, who offered to help the CVC to find fundraising partners. But Town of Halton Hills representative of the CVC board of directors, Ward 2 Councillor Joan Robson, said the CVC doesnt have a man- date (or the money) to restore any structures, or to join partnerships to restore properties. I dont think they (the board) will be open to that, she said. However, council voted to defer their deci- sion for six months (the June 23 council meet- ing), to allow the family members and friends some time to form a group and plan to save the farmhouse. Wards 3&4 Regional Councillor Jane Fogal stated that this is like Devereaux House d vu, and six months is not a long time to ask in the life of this house.
