AN EQUAL OPPORTUNITY EMPLOYER Acton/Georgetown, Friday, February 1, 2008 7 Letters to the editor Car customer gets present to remember Dear editor, I want to thank Dave, Doreen, Sean, Stef and everyone at Hassells Automotive who arranged a delightful surprise for me this past Christmas Eve making it a Christmas I will never forget. A couple of months before Christmas I had spoken with Dave, and given him a list of (very) specific requests for a used Mini Cooper to look for. A few months went by, and he kept saying that he just wasnt finding the right colour, price point and combination of features that I had so carefully specified. I was hopeful that he would find one, and began to think perhaps I had been too specific and that I would go back and tell him I could be more flexible, if necessary. On Christmas Eve, my Dad called to say he needed a ride over to Hassells to drop off his car for an oil change, and that he would pick it up on Boxing Day. I followed him into the shop where a staff party was in full swing, and started speaking to Dave about how much trouble he was having finding the car Id described, and how hed keep looking in the New Year, but wasnt making any promises. After about 10 minutes of chatting, he said, I have a car over here I think youd really like..., and as I followed him around the cor- ner, hidden behind a big truck, was a shiny Mini Cooper with a big red bow on the front, and a sign saying Merry Christmas Katy, with every single feature Id requested! I was in complete shock! What a wonderful Christmas surprise. What was even more wonderful was to hear about the planning that had gone into this sur- prise, and the feeling of joy and goodwill that had spread to everyone who knew about it, and witnessed the sheer joy and excitement on my face. It was a Christmas surprise that I will never forget. Katy Pettit, Georgetown Dear editor, I was surprised you printed the recent letter from Peter Roe (PM must come clean on secret deals, Jan. 2) it seems to be something no politician wants to talk about as they deny any secrecy. I myself sent an e-mail asking for minutes of the Security and Prosperity Partnership (SPP) meeting. It was ignored, of course. We, the people, who pay for these people to have meet- ings, are not allowed to know the details. We probably would not understand them. Its called democracy. Since we are on secrecy why has there been no talk about the High Frequency Active Auroral Research Program (HAARP) weather control system that has been ignored in the cli- mate debate? Not only has the United States the ability to change weather, but the Russians also have a system. Sounds like science fiction? Its not. No one talks about it mainly because people are scared. For information on HAARP look at Prof. Michel Chossudovskys Weather Warfare: Beware the U.S. militarys experiments with cli- mactic warfare. John Shadbolt, Acton Federal government is holding out on its citizens Dear editor, On behalf of Links2Care, I would like to extend my sincere appreciation to everyone who helped to make our recent Holiday Hamper program a success. Our Holiday Hamper program provides new clothing and toys to lower income families in our community and this past season we assist- ed 130 families (260 children) through this program. The program was a success because we have such a generous and caring community. Thank you to all the churches, businesses, schools, community groups and individuals who spon- sored families and donated money and gift items. The families who received hampers were extremely grateful and overwhelmed with the hampers they were given. Thanks to everyone who participated in the Holiday Hamper program your support is greatly appreciated.
