Expires March 31, 2008 Theres no doubt about it: smoking pollutes your body and takes years off your life. Cigarettes are very addictive, very expensive and very unpleasant for those around you. If you do smoke and have thought about quitting, prove to yourself you can do it. It takes a lot of hard work and dedication, but you can live smoke-free if you try. Cool or Clueless? Is there really any question? Acton/Georgetown, Friday, February 29, 2008 5 A man convicted of running a marijuana grow op has had his Georgetown home seized by Halton Police under the provinces proceeds of crime legislation. Police seized a home on Duncan Dr. belonging to Tuyen Ngo, formerly of Brampton. This was Haltons first seizure of a residential drug lab. Ngo, who was charged in June 2006 after police found $470,000 worth of marijuana plants and hydroponics equipment in the home at 42 Duncan Dr., pleaded guilty to unlawfully produc- ing a controlled substance and possession of a controlled substance in court Feb. 19. The courts placed a restraint on the Duncan Dr. property on Feb. 6, 2007 and during Ngos recent court appearance, the Court ordered for- feiture of the residence to the Receiver General of Canada. Asset forfeiture is a valuable tool that police can use to help ensure public safety and sends a strong message to criminals that we will not tol- erate grow operations in our communities, said Inspector Chris Perkins, head of the Halton Police Criminal Investigations Division. Police seize grow op house Halton Police are asking for assistance from the public in identifying a suspect in a photo (pic- tured right) believed to have entered and stolen cash and credit cards from several vehicles in Georgetown South on Feb. 9. After the break-ins the suspect then went into the Petro Canada gas station at Mountainview Rd. and Guelph St. where he used one of the stolen credit cards to buy a carton of cigarettes. Police obtained security footage from the gas station, and released photos to the media. They ask anyone who can identify the man seen in the photos to call Halton Criminal Investigation Bureau at 905-878-5511 ext. 2116 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.
