Photo by Graham Paine Georgetown Skating Club member Alexandra Pockett was in fine form at the recent Pat Abela Memorial Invitational figure skating competition in Tillsonburg, earning first-place honours in both the Pre-Preliminary Starskate and Senior Bronze Skills events. Georgetowns Taylor Smith also made a cou- ple of trips to the podium, finishing in top spot for Junior Bronze Skills and third in Pre- Preliminary Starskate. Haley Lambert placed second in the Pre- Preliminary Starskate, while Brittany Bates was runner-up in the Pre-Preliminary A Freeskate category. Brianna Basha was fourth in the Pre- Preliminary A Freeskate and Holly McNeil fin- ished fifth in Pre-Preliminary Starskate. As well, members of the GSC recorded some top-10 results at the recent Central Ontario Section Boston Pizza StarSkate championships held at the Earnscliffe Recreation Centre in Brampton. In the Pre-Preliminary category, Haley Lambert and Alexandra Pockett both finished fourth, Holly McNeil and Taylor Smith were eighth, while Sara Ikin was 12th. Alex Smith placed seventh in the Preliminary class and Madeline Commisso was 10th in Jr. Bronze.
