John Thorpe, Utter Morris Insurance Brokers Limited, 10-year Gold Book Advertiser Celebrating 10 years of innovation Independent & Free Press, Wednesday, March 19, 2008 27 Participants in the GlenStar Leadership Program listened attentively when Mayor Rick Bonnette paid a recent visit to the Glen Williams Town Hall. The mayor was on hand to speak to these young leaders about his role as mayor as well as leadership opportunities for the youth of Halton Hills. The GlenStars did not hesitate to ask him about his leadership role, the way a town council works and what our young leaders can do if theyre thinking of a career in politics. These young leaders are all about community involve- ment, said Amy Kelleher, director of GlenStar Programs. They had some great questions for our mayor about what they can do to help out in this great town of ours. GlenStar is currently planning a spring fundraising event entitled Fun in the Sun for the children of Glen Williams and will be completing its Spring Session in April with a field trip to the Norval Outdoor School. This 10-week Leadership Program for ages 10-15 runs on Saturday mornings and fosters the values of teamwork, commu- nication and leadership, while promoting a healthy sense of self. GlenStar is committed to bringing forth new opportunities for the youth of Halton Hills to be leaders in their community, vol- unteer in meaningful projects and make a difference in their world.
