As many of you know Sherry Mitchell will be working full time at the Georgetown Seniors Centre once a replacement has been found for her at the Acton Seniors Centre. Her pleasant manner and sense of humour will be missed around the Centre. Please take this opportunity to wish her well. She tells me she is going to miss everyone. There is a card at the Front Desk for every- one to sign, as well as an opportunity to contribute towards a gift if you wish. Four members of the Centre Jerry Kroezen, Mary Walsma, Dobbie Frizzell and Jack Muir will be playing cribbage at the Georgetown Seniors Centre to see who will represent Halton Hills at the district Seniors Games. If any carpet bowlers, dart players, bid euchre or euchre players or more crib- bage players would like to send teams give Mary a call 519-853-2098. Two years ago the Acton cribbage team achieved a third place medal, so we have high hopes for this year. Twenty-four ladies enjoyed Linda MacDonalds presentation of Fifth Avenue jewelry. She told us a little about the jewel- ry, which is created in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan using genuine gemstones and Austrian crystal. There were many different pieces to choose from including rings, ear- rings, brooches and necklaces in both mod- ern and the modern traditional styles, in both gold and silver. One happy lady was Siena Ancker who won a pretty silver com- pact mirror. It was nice to see something that is created in Canada as almost every- thing you buy seems to be made in China. To set off the beautiful jewelry you might have purchased last week, come out and see the Alia Fashion Show on Tuesday, April 8 at 2 p.m. See what the latest colours and designs are for spring and summer. Margaret Neilson tells me eight carpet bowlers were out last week and Siena Anckers Brown team beat Betty Lockerbies Black team, 17-16. Another close game! If you would like to join them they play Monday afternoons at 1 p.m. If you booked for the Mohawk trip please make sure you pay before April 4 as I have to confirm totals. Much to my aston- ishment we have over 50 people wishing to go. If you would like to join us please put your name on the appropriate sign up sheet. Jill Tetreault tells me our membership now stands at 280. This is a drop in num- bers from last year, partially due to people moving, illness and several dedicated mem- bers passed on during the last year. Thinking of people moving, Pat Frizzell told me she was speaking to Ed Footitt last week and he and Betty have settled in their new home and are very happy. If you, or someone you know needs a walker to help them get around, we have several at the Centre which you can borrow free of charge. Just call the centre, 519-853- 5951 and leave a message for Dobbie and he will be happy to give you more information. Great news! The 128 COCAO surveys we were working on are now complete. The surveys cover both members and non-mem- bers. After the data has been inputted, we will receive a report for our Centre, which will give us the information we need to plan for the future of our centre. Muriel Dzierla and Shirley Hunter both had mooners last Thursday in bid euchre. Acton Seniors seek to regain cribbage honours JULIE CONROY Acton Seniors Recreation Centre
