Both girls are members of the Bearcats girls senior volleyball team, who captured second place at OFSAA. Nixon plays middle, and had some great serves and hitting, while Kosziwka is a setter, setting up some great plays. Georgetown District High School Athletes of the Week are Lauren McCracken and Vicky Straughn. Both are members of the Rebels senior girls volley- ball team. McCracken is a libero and back row, while Straughn plays power. Both were cited for their strong team play at OFSAA. Christ the King Catholic High School Athletes of the Week are Nic Pierog and Kaitlyn Knox. Peirog, a right winger and centre on the Jaguars boys hock- ey team was selected for his one goal and four assists while playing four exhibition games in Austria and the Czech Republic. Knox, a member of the Jaguars swim team, was chosen for finishing 12th overall at OFSAA in the 100 metre freestyle event in Etobicoke. Sports & Leisure, Friday, March 28, 2008 3 Georgetowns Corey Gillies, who trains at Gymnastics Mississauga, helped his team win the gold medal in the mens category at the Ontario Winter Games recently at CFB Borden. Prior to that, the 12-year-old Gillies earned a bronze medal in the vault and a sixth- place result for the floor exercise at a provincial qualifi- er in North York and will compete in the Ontario cham- pionships April 4-6 in Mississauga.
