Siskinds LLP announced last week a $110- million class action against SunOpta Inc., and some of that companys senior officers arising out of SunOptas Jan. 24 press release that dis- closed it would be required to take write- downs in the $9 to $11 million range in con- nection with its berry operations because inventories were overstated. The suit is on behalf of everyone who acquired shares of SunOpta between May 8, 2007 and Jan. 24, 2008. SunOpta, located on Bovaird Dr. W. (Hwy. 7), near the border of Halton Hills and Brampton, operates high growth ethical busi- nesses focusing on the natural and organic food, supplements and health and beauty mar- kets. Investors are entitled to demand that the financial statements of public companies fairly and accurately reflect the financial condition and performance of the companies in which they invest their savings, said Dimitri Lascaris, a partner in the class actions department of Siskinds LLP.
