Some of the Impacts more difficult tests came early on as the local side went on to sweep through its final three matches without dropping a set. Georgetown, seeded second out of 16 teams, defeated the Niagara U-17 Rapids 25-13, 25-23, Cambridge U- 16 Hawks 23-25, 25-12, 15-9 and Aurora U-17 Storm Vortex 25-16, 25- 22 to finish first in the preliminary round pool. In the first playoff round, the Impact was nearly upset by the 15th- ranked Stratford U-17 Stingers, pre- vailing 21-25, 25-16, 15-11. Georgetown then beat the Chatham U-17 Ballhawks 25-12 in the quarter- finals, the Ottawa U-17 Black Jacks 25-21, 25-18 in the semis and in the championship match the Impact dis- missed under-16 rival Ottawa National Capitals 25-20, 25-23. Two Impact players, power hitter Arissa Fogolin and libero Hillary Banks, were selected to the provincial tournament all-star team. Winning all seven of its matches, Georgetowns under-16 Impact is the 2008 OVA under-17 Tier II champ after its recent performance in Kingston. Team members (front, from left) are: Lindsay McCabe, Tori McCracken, Sarah Treanor. Middle row: Haley Besworth, Arissa Fogolin, Hillary Banks.
