OMHA Under-17 camp Several Georgetown residents are among the players who will partici- pate in the Ontario Minor Hockey Associations under-17 regional evaulation camp held this weekend at Mold-Masters SportsPlex. For the third year in a row, the girls from the Halton Hills Gymnastics Centre competed at the Lucky Stars Invitational Meet in Jamestown, N.Y., winning several high standing individual and team awards. HHGC placed first for Level 8 Small Teams and Level 7 Large Teams, with more than 10 competing teams in both categories. Individual highlights at the Lucky Stars Invitational included: Level 8 Small Teams Xhosa Baker- 2nd beam, floor, all- around Melanie Butler- 1st vault; 2nd bars; 3rd floor, all-around Emily Krusky-1st beam, bar, floor, all-around; 2nd vault Level 7 Large Teams Alandra Telschow-2nd floor; 3rd all-around 4th beam Caralyn Hale- 2nd beam; 3rd vault; 5th floor; 6th all-around Rachel Truscott-3rd floor; 8th bars Marissa Parker-3rd floor; 11th vault; 13th beam Lauren Rock, 1st vault, floor, all- around; 4th beam Mikaela Telschow-5th all-around Bridget Irving-1st bars; 4th floor; 7th all-around As well, four HHGC members competed in the Ontario Winter Games last month at CFB Borden and were able to earn medals as part of six-person teams. Xhosa Baker (1st), Melanie Butler (2nd) and Emily Krusky are current- ly at Level 8 but competed at Level 9 at the OWG, adding a higher level of difficulty to their routines. Brake, who plays Power on the Bearcats girls volleyball team, was chosen for her good pass- ing as she competed with the team at OFSAA. Bigg, a mem- ber of the Bearcats badminton team, was selected for his third place finish at the recent Bishop Reding tournament. Georgetown District High School Athletes of the Week are Vicki Thoms and Stephen McDonald. Thoms, a Power on the Rebels midget volleyball team, was cited for her strong play in the recent tourney at Burlington Central, in which the Rebels finished as Halton Champs. McDonald, a goalie with the Rebels hockey team, was recognized for his goaltending with won the game against Deggendorf, Germany, in the teams European tour. Christ the King Catholic High School Athletes of the Week are Brittany Westlake and Ryan Woodrow. Both Westlake and Woodrow are members of the Jaguars bad- minton team, and were chosen for their success at the Bishop Reding tournament. Westlake won 2 0f 2 in the ladies senior singles and Woodrow made it to the quarter finals in the mixed doubles division.
