ONLY $4.99 Independent & Free Press, Wednesday, May 14, 2008 17 Acton youth will seize their chance for change on Saturday, May 24, by hosting a day- long (noon-8 p.m.) event in Prospect Park that highlights the talents and interests of local youth. The event is called Acton Youths Chance for Change. Were going to be celebrating Acton youth as important members of our community, say planning committee members Dallas Shewfelt and Alannah Bowes. There will be many great events throughout the day, for all ages, and some specific to showcasing local youths talent. We see the event as being a great opportunity to not only show off the talent of local youth but to also recognize adults in the community who we feel play an important role in supporting youth, say Bowes and Shewfelt. Additional activities planned include a feature performance by comedian and Acton native Jeff McEnery, as well as art displays, an open mic for those spontaneous performers, local band perfor- mances, improvisational activities and even an inflatable Joust game and a jumping giraffe for all ages.
