The award winners were recognized for promoting a positive image of young people and generating awareness of the value of the contribu- tions youth can make. On this page and the following pages are pro- files of the outstanding youth who received Youth Recognition Awards. As well, MYAC hosted a Coffee House at the Starlight Cafn Acton on Sunday, May 4 to highlight local youth musical talent. Photo by Patti Post Tyler Brown Tyler is a current student at Georgetown District High School, who is an inspirational role model. Tyler participated in the Rotary Exchange Program and lived in Mexico for six months, which helped to broaden his global perspective. Tyler has applied his new knowledge from the Exchange Program to the Social Justice League and the Georgetown Rebels Environmental Education Network. He is currently assisting in fundrais- ing initiatives for a project with Habitat for Humanity, and the CN Tower Climb for World Wildlife Foundation. Tyler is an active member of the Mayor's Youth Action Committee. Michelle Boulanger Michelle is a Grade 8 student at Holy Cross School, who volunteers weekly with the Holy Cross Parish in Georgetown. She also spends time volunteering with the Georgetown Bread Basket and is actively involved in fundraising initiatives. Michelle's watercolour painting was fea- tured at a school silent auction that raised $800 for cancer. She has also participat- ed in the Future Forests of Halton Hills and has volunteered at the Knights Table in Brampton, serving food for the homeless. Michelle also organized a Thanksgiving Luncheon at her school for 120 stu- dents, the biggest Thanksgiving dinner ever to take place at Holy Cross.
