Kristie Johnson, 20, has been charged with careless driving. She is to appear in court on the charge June 16. Police say Johnson was driving a Honda Prelude southbound on Ninth Line between Five and Ten Sideroads at about 9:30 p.m. when she passed a vehi- cle travelling in the same direction and struck a north-bound Cavalier driven by Kellie Thompson, 35, of Georgetown. A passenger in the Cavalier, Robert Thomas, 44, also of Georgetown died in the crash. Thompson received life-threatening injuries, but has since been released from hospital. Johnson suf- fered minor injuries in the collision. A Guelph man is facing several drug-related charges after police observed a mans activities in front of a Queen St. Acton residence at about 2:50 p.m. Friday. Police arrested the man, but he escaped and fled on foot. Police chased the man for about a kilometre before they nabbed him. A quantity of marijuana and cocaine was seized from the man. Charged with possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking, possession of a controlled substance, obstruct police and escape lawful custody is Matthew Edward Snyder, 27, of Imperial Rd. N. Three male young offenders are facing charges after police were called to an altercation at a large house party on Glen Crescent Dr. in Glen Williams around midnight Friday. Two of the males were charged with cause a distur- bance by fighting, one with obstruct a police officer and another with cause a disturbance by fighting and possession of a controlled substance. A Dodge Magnum parked in the lot at Food Basics Thursday evening was scratched and dented when it was struck by an unknown vehicle. Damage was $1,500. The bike is valued at $150. Halton Hills firefighters were called to Cedarvale Park early last Tuesday morning because two porta- potties were on fire. Both porta-potties were fully engulfed in flames when fire crews arrived and extinguished the blazes. Firef ighters with the department s Technical Rescue Team were called to a pond on Third Line Friday afternoon because a vehicle was submerged in the water.
