Halton Police report the building was entered and a cinder block was used to break several windows inside. A fire extinguisher was discharged inside and a railway tie was tossed through a rear window. The wooden footings under the building were also damaged and a cinder block was thrown through a window in a Mack truck parked on the property. Sometime early Friday or Saturday police say $800 worth of damage was caused to a truck parked at Star Glass on Guelph St. when a wooden skid was thrown at it a number of times. Anyone with information on recent vandal- ism incidents in town is asked to call police at 905-878-5511 ext. 2114 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS. Halton Police report a BlackBerry valued at $800 was taken from the Georgetown Salvation Army Thrift Store on Mill St. Thursday after- noon. Police say an unknown male grabbed the BlackBerry from a woman working in the store and fled. A DVD player was stolen from a vehicle parked at an Ontario St. residence sometime late Monday or early Tuesday. An implement was used to open the locked door. The value of the player is $230. A 2001 Chevrolet Impala taxicab was taken from a residence on Mountainview Rd. N. sometime late Monday or early Tuesday. The keys had been left in the vehicle. The owner of the vehicle found it abandoned Tuesday morn- ing on Rosetta St. The car was not damaged. A laptop and portable DVD player were taken from a vehicle parked at a McGilvray Cr. home sometime between 2 and 10 p.m. last Thursday. The items are valued at $1,000. Its unknown how the culprit(s) got into the vehicle. Halton Police are urging area residents to lock their vehicles after a series of recent thefts from several unlocked cars. A Swiss Army knife and Motorola phone and pager were taken from an unlocked vehicle parked at a Hewson Cr. home sometime late Monday or early Tuesday. The items were worth $200. Late last Friday or early Saturday change and a cell phone were taken from an unlocked vehicle on Willoughby Way. Also last Friday or Saturday, change and iPod ear buds were taken from an unlocked vehicle on Northridge Cr., and a cell phone from another vehicle on that street. Two used vehicles in the Georgetown Chrysler lot on Guelph St. were damaged when rocks were thrown through their windshields. One incident occurred sometime between Friday and Monday resulting in $390 damage, and the other occurred Friday evening or Saturday morning. Damage was $1,500. A propane barbecue tank ($70) was stolen from the back porch of a Milfoil St. Georgetown home sometime Friday or Saturday.
