Independent & Free Press, Wednesday, May 21, 2008 9 Conservation Halton held its 26th annual Conservation Awards of Excellence ceremony last Wednesday at its Administration Centre in Burlington. The awards are presented to people and organizations who make outstanding contributions to conservation in the Halton water- shed which includes Halton, Peel, Hamilton and Puslinch. The 2008 award recipients includ- ed green giants in several categories. In the Education Category the Conservation Award of Excellence was given to Club Green from Christ the King Catholic Secondary School in Georgetown. They were recognized for environmental education, recycling, stewardship and awareness projects launched by Club Green. These efforts have contributed to environmen- tal protection and watershed health. Shari Typer, a teacher from the school, and student members of Club Green accepted the award. Photo courtesy Conservation Halton Club Green honoured No one showed up to a public meeting at the Halton Hills Civic Centre to hear about a proposal to change the 2006 Official Plan and zoning for 79 Main St. N. in Georgetown. Owners Lucy and Alex Quaglia are proposing that business and professional offices be allowed on the site. The property is located beside the Moore Park Daycare, and both use the same driveway. Halton Hills planning staff will present its recommendation on the proposal at a future council meet- ing. No opposition to Main St. N. zoning change
