Getting their kicks League action in the Georgetown Soccer Club got under way with its Opening Day festivities Saturday at the Croatian Centre and a full slate of games, including this under-7 girls matchup, which resulted in a 6-5 win for Johnson Associates Halton over East End Car Wash. Three weekend games in less than 48 hours produced a couple of wins and a loss for the Dogs, who continue to chase the 9-1-0 Green Gaels of Clarington for top spot in the 13-team Eastern Conference. Yet, Halton Hills doesnt have much breath- ing room thanks to its rivals in the South East Division and the remaining nine games of the season could do much to alter the order of the leagues front-runners. The Bulldogs dropped just their second game of 2008 in Oakville Friday night to the Buzz 11-8, despite leading 5-3 early in the sec- ond period. A pair of four-goal rallies propelled Oakville to the victory, including an offensive surge in the final frame with the score even at seven. Chad Cummings (2), Evan Whillans, Michael Licata, Kody Lyons, Kyle Davis, Pat Saunders and Peter Laidlaw had the visiting goals Friday. The Bulldogs crushed 2-9-0 Gloucester 15-5 at the Alcott Arena Saturday, building an 8-1 lead after 20 minutes. Saunders (3), Peter Laidlaw (3), Whillans (2), Licata (2), Chris Haynes (2), Nic Grasby, Davis and Lyons found the mark, with Grasby adding eight assists. A trip to Huntsville Sunday afternoon resulted in a 9-4 triumph as Davis struck for a hat trick. Grasby (2), Licata, Lyons, Cummings and Peter Laidlaw rounded out the scoring. In their remaining nine games, the Bulldogs face 9-2-0 Mimico and 7-2-0 Oakville three times each, including a home date with the Buzz Thursday at 8 p.m. The Dogs also visit the 1-12-0 Mississauga Tomahawks in Clarkson on Friday night.
