These students exemplify outstanding qualities in academic, vocational and athletic fields, self-improvement, com- munity work, citizenship and student leadership or specific crite- ria that reflect the schools unique priorities. Below is a profile on each of the 15 youths representing Halton Hills public schools, as chosen by their peers, principals and/or teachers. Colin Bijaoui Centennial This Grade 8 student is a positive, exemplary role model who readily assists and encour- ages his classmates. This multi- talented, dedicated, polite, unassuming person has consistently achieved Honours and Citizenship With Distinction, competed in Think Bowl, performed in the jazz and concert bands, and helped to set track and field records! Charlotte Tilstra Brookville Charlotte is a leader within the classroom and the school. Elected Prime Minister of Student Forum, she is a self- directed student who excels academically. The Grade 8 student is also an active participant in a wide range of extra-curricular activities including: Think Bowl, basketball team, concert band, as a lunchroom helper and tutor while always serving as an excellent role model for others. Benjamin Braun Glen Williams Benjamin, a Grade 5 student, has demonstrated excellence in a number of ways while main- taining very high academic standards. Ben has partici- pated in choir, volleyball, track & field, in relays and as a library helper. In the community, Ben volunteers with Habitat for Humanity. Ben demonstrates all the components of Tribes and treats everyone with respect and courtesy and exemplifies all-around excellence. Jakob Macpherson McKenzie-Smith Bennett Jakob, a Grade 8 student, was selected as he is an exem- plary model for other stu- dents. He is actively involved in his community and his school, takes his academic pursuits seriously and has an incredibly positive and help- ful attitude. He always tries his best and is there to help family, friends or anyone else whenever its needed. Laura Chiavegato Park Laura, a Grade 5 student, was chosen because of her posi- tive attitude and commitment to Park School. She is a student who can be seen working around the school help- ing other students and teachers. She is always smiling and is respected by other students as a friendly and helpful individual. Laura is a good citizen, a good friend and a good student. Steven Stechly Pineview Steven, a Grade 5 student, is an exemplary citizen in the Pineview community, volun- teering his time to make a difference in the school. He is an eager, enthusi- astic learner who greets everyone with a smile. He played on the volleyball and cross-country teams, participated in the Silver Birch reading club, and demonstrated responsibility as an office monitor and announcer. Steven is well- respected by staff and peers. Yaw Antwi-Boasiako Robert Little This is Yaws second year at Robert Little and he quickly established himself as a valuable member of our school family. A Grade 5 student, he is a school leader, genuinely kind and inclusive with others. He is a deep thinker, clever, and driven to succeed. The one story that really characterizes his uniqueness and maturity occurred when he was competing in a track meet with a good chance of win- ning his race. During the race, another student who was running against Yaw, fell to the track with an asthma attack. Yaw stopped running and helped his competitor, giving up his chance to win. He never once complained. Yaw's sense of fair play and empathy for others is refreshing and inspiring to both his peers and the adults around him. Kendra Miller Limehouse In addition to strong academic skills Kendra, a Grade 5 student, is a positive role model to her peers and to young- er students. She is a quiet leader within the class and within the school. Kendra volunteers as an office helper and bus monitor and partici- pates in all activities, including cross-country, floor hockey, dodge ball, track and field, and volleyball. She has also been a member of the school choir. Carolyn Stoddart Harrison Carolyn, a Grade 5, student is a pleasure to have in school each day as she spends time with her SK Learning Buddy and helps in the office and as a lunch monitor. Carolyn also encourages everyone during athletic activities. She has participated in house leagues, Grade 5 volleyball, relay and cross country teams. Carolyn has led the school in a QDF/DPA rou- tine and won the Heart Award for her efforts in Phys. Ed and was selected by her classmates for a 5 Cs Award. Cameron Fritz Joseph Gibbons Cameron, a Grade 5 stu- dent, embodies everything that a student of excellence should. His helpful nature, positive outlook, and kindness are all examples to the younger students at Joseph Gibbons. Cameron is an excellent student, often exceed- ing the provincial standards, and he partici- pates in many extra-curricular activities. Grace Watson George Kennedy Grace, a Grade 5 student, is a kind, energetic and car- ing student. She always has a positive attitude towards her learning. She is involved in numerous activities at school including the Silver Birch Club, book lovers club, cross country running and as a QDF leader. Grace is equally as busy outside of school in the community. She participates in soccer, dance and hockey.
