Acton/Georgetown, Friday, May 30, 2008 11 student excellence Jesse Krusky Christ the King Jesse is a caring and supportive friend, a faithful member of the schools Social Justice Com- mittee and the only student member of our school crisis response team. In these com- mitments and in his everyday life, he is a vibrant example of life in imitation of Christ. Kara Brownlee Silver Creek Kara, a Grade 8 stu- dent, is a kind, thoughtful, consci- entious student who works to an incredibly high standard exceeding the expectations of the staff. She is very involved in all areas of the school community including the arts, athletics and the student leadership team. Kara epitomizes the values taught in a Tribes school and encourages others to help create this environ- ment on a daily basis. Emily Rowe Stewarttown Emily, a Grade 8 student, approaches everything with determination and enthusiasm. Her aca- demic record is exemplary. She is a member of our Student Parliament Executive, Environ- ment Club, Improv Club, Band and Music Council. Emily belongs to the Senior Girls Choir in Georgetown and plays the violin. Her cheerful manner allows her to connect with everyone in a positive manner. Carly Bravo Georgetown High School Carly, a Grade 12 student, is an enthusiastic, reliable and compassionate Grade 12 student. She is involv- ed with band and the Social Justice League, Student Parliament and the Swim Team. She was an integral part of our Link Crew Program, which provides for a smooth transi- tion to high school for Grade 9 students. Throughout her four years at GDHS, Carly has maintained honour roll status along with all of her extra involvement, not only here but in the com- munity as well. Christopher Kuczera St. Catherine of Alexandria Christopher is a most positive role model for his peers. His positive influ- ence is evident in all envi- ronments due to his inclu- sive nature and desire to attain goals in solidarity with others. He motivates others to do their best through both his actions and words. Rachel Van Fraassen St. Joseph Rachel consistently displays the qualities and Catholic values that we strive to attain. Her willingness to assist her family and peers demonstrates her compassion and care. Her respectful, positive attitude towards staff is a model for others. Sandra Frias St. Francis of Assisi Sandra is a Grade 8 stu- dent, who demonstrates the qualities needed to be a leader within a school environ- ment and within the Church. She is a leader within her parish as a member of the choir, Atrium program and youth programs. She also promotes the Gospel values in her interactions with school staff, peers and community mem- bers. She is always respectful and friendly to everyone and will always offer to help. Caitlin Fines Holy Cross Caitlin was chosen for this award for her continuous role in being a Catholic leader. Her Catholic values are enriched in every aspect of her life, both at home and at school. Maeve Sharkey St. Brigid Maeve is a co-opera- tive and respectful stu- dent, who encourages the development of solidarity in the school, town and global communities through her involve- ment in activities both within and outside the school. ... and Sharing the Spirit Halton District Catholic School Board honours outstanding stu- dents with its Sharing the Spirit awards. Students selected demon- strated Catholic leadership, family commitment, involvement in the school and community activities and commitment to a difficult task or situation. The following six students represent the Halton Hills Catholic schools. Kathleen Dennis Acton High School Kathleen, a Grade 12 student, is recognized by staff and her peers for her overwhelming exuberance in everything she does. A musician, an athlete and an exceptionally diligent student, she is a key member of the Band Executive, was nominated for a Sportsmanship Award at the OFSSA Basketball Championships, and has logged several hundred hours of volunteer service in her community. She personifies the spirit of Acton High School.
