Acton/Georgetown, Friday, May 30, 2008 3 Remembering Kirkland The fourth annual Mito March for Kirkland attracted approxi- mately 300 people to run, walk or ride around the track at the Gellert Community Park Sunday. The event, which raised $41,000 for mitochon- drial disease research at The Hospital for Sick Children, was named after Kirkland Kilbride, the Georgetown youngster who suffered from the disease and who died this past December. Participants released butterflies at the event and one lingered on the shoulder of Kelly Kilbride (inset) prompting her to say her sons spirit was evident at the event. (Left) Brandon Gowland, 12, (right) was first around the track and was con- gratulated by Kilbride and Anita Timpson. Gowland earned a new pair of running shoes from Feet in Motion for fiinishing first. Photos by Nelia Raposo
