So many things are winding up and so many other things are start- ing. The school year needs to be finished, soccer starts, vacations need to be planned, and after all that, a good book can be a welcome break. Today, I took a look at the new-book shelves and here is a selection of some of the Librarys latest titles: If you are in the mood for something silly, Gods Behaving Badly by Marie Phillips could be for you. In this book, the gods and goddesses of Ancient Greece have downsized their digs from Mount Olympus to something much more humble in London, England. Unfortunately the whole omni- scient-omnipotent thing does not go down too well with the locals and chaos quickly ensues (again). Jeffrey Archers newest novel, A Prisoner of Birth, is, true to form, a shockingly exciting page-turner. Danny Cartwright is falsely accused of murder and sentenced to 22 years in prison. Yet being behind bars does not deter him from seeking revenge. To say the ending is a surprise is a huge understate- ment. The Girl with No Shadow is the long-awaited sequel to Joanne Harris Chocolat. It continues the story of Vivanne Rocher, who is blown by a restless wind to Paris and sets up another chocolaterie in Montmartre under an assumed name. But the peace and quiet does not last long, and Vivanne soon dis- covers that she is not the only one who has taken on a new identity to get what she wants. In bestselling author Elizabeth Georges hugely anticipated new novel, Careless in Red, Inspector Lynley, paralyzed by his grief for his wife, is again involved in a murder investigation. This time, his role is not that of a detective, but instead he is a wit- ness and might even be a suspect.
