On Wednesday some members visited Stratford to enjoy the show and lunch. Some Acton members are going to play golf at Oak Gables Golf Club today (Friday) where we will enjoy meeting other members from the Golden Horseshoe playing in their annual OACAO (Older Adult Centres Association of Ontario) golf tournament. There is a great day planned at the Gellert Centre on Tuesday, June 10. If you need trans- portation, please sign the sheet at the front desk. There will be ballroom dancing (with a live band), yoga demonstrations, flowering arranging, learning to cook for one, using your digital camera and defibrillator training. Lunch will be available at a nominal cost and both centres are preparing the lunch and will share in any profit. The following day, June 11, there is a free swim in the lovely Gellert pool for anyone 55 plus. At the Thursday afternoon bid euchre, Mae Milton had the only mooner. The new newsletter should be out by the time you read this, and hopefully you will enjoy the new format with photos and more information. Let me know your comments! Last week, the Rama was on a Tuesday (May 27), but the change of date didnt seem to help Lady Luck shine on any of our members. Marion Pascoe won the 50/50 draw, Kate Nilsson won the Birthday prize and sitting in the lucky seats were Art Tressel, Betty Brewer, Rita Court, Merle Carter, June Hilson, Norma Sanderlands, Jocie Tost, and June Colocci. The next Rama trip will be on Wednesday, June 25. The six carpet bowlers who came out last Monday enjoyed the game. Ivan Bozics Black team beat Shirley Kruks Brown team, 16-10. If you have never played, come out and join them. They always seem to have a great time. Another group that always enjoys the chal- lenges of getting that dart in the board, not around it like me, asked me to say they are looking for players on a Monday morning at 9:15 a.m. You dont have to make a commit- ment to play every week, just come when you are able. Tickets are available for the barbecue dinner on Tuesday, June 17. This annual summer event is one your board works on by setting up the room, preparing the food, serving and cooking. This gives the hardworking social committee a break (except for poor Victor). Victor has arranged for a great band to enter- tain us. Those who enjoy ice cream will be able to create their own sundaes. Get your tickets soon and enjoy this fun event. Dont forget the garage sale on Saturday, June 14. We will happily accept donations of saleable good quality items on Friday, June 13, from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m. See you at the garage sale on Saturday, June 14. The 50/50 was not won again this week, so it should be around $500 next week.
