The Grade 10 students condition was not known Thursday afternoon and family members requested his identity not be revealed. GDHS princi- pal Stuart Miller said the student is recovering after being airlifted from Georgetown Hospital to Toronto. A pre-existing health issue may have led to the incident, officials said. The schools swim team was prac- tising in the Georgetown Indoor Pool, when a lifeguard, a Town of Halton Hills employee, noticed one student go under and pulled him out, said Staff Sgt. Ray Bruce of Halton Regional Police. Two female lifeguards, who also asked that their names not be released, were on duty at the time. They were able to resuscitate the victim prior to the arrival of Emergency Medical Services at the school. We are extremely proud of our staff, who responded quickly and com- petently, said Joy Thompson, recre- ation services manager for the Town of Halton Hills.
