Both girls are members of the Bearcats girls varsity soccer team, and were chosen for their performance which led the team to the Halton Semi-finals. Glassford, a mid-fielder, held her own against St Thomas Acquines, while Soderholm, a striker, was cited for her good pass- ing and set-ups. Georgetown District High School Athletes of the Week are Maddy Bannock and Alex Jarvis. Both are members of the Rebels track and field team who compet- ed at OFFSA at Mohawk Park in Hamilton. Bannock placed 9th in the triple jump, achieving a personal best of 10.03 metres. Jarvis placed 11th in the 3,000 metres and 17th in the 1,500 metres, achieving a seasonal best. Christ the King Catholic High School Athletes of the Week are Cameron Damota and Brittney Mortimer. Both are members of the Jaguars' track and field team. Damota finished 3rd in the 400 metres hurdles at the South Regionals, qualifying for OFFSA. Mortimer placed 19th in the senior girls discus, throwing 27.68 meters. HAS MOVED Sports & Leisure, Friday, June 20, 2008 7 A couple of Halton Hills Gymnastics Centre athletes had top- 10 individual finishes and team suc- cess as well at the Mens Eastern Canadian Championships recently in Longueuil, Que. Marc de Lestard finished third overall out of nine gymnasts in the highest division, Level 6, for the boys 16 & over age group, earning second place on high bar, third on parallel bars, fourth on pommel and rings, fifth on floor and sixth on vault. In the team category, de Lestard held strong marks along with his fel- low Ontario athletes, earning gold medals. Riley Dodds finished eighth over- all out of 14 gymnasts in the Level 3 division for the boys 13+ age group, which included a fourth-place result on rings and a fifth on pommel. For the team category competition, Dodds performed well in his divi- sion, with team Ontario placing sec- ond behind champion Quebec. About 65 athletes representing four provinces Ontario, Quebec, Newfoundland and Nova Scotia- competed at the meet. Submitted photo Georgetowns Callum Biehn shot a round of 88 to finish third in the boys 11-12 age group at the Canadian Junior Golf Associations Linkster Series event held Sunday at the Muskoka Highlands course. Biehn finished nine shots back of the winner, Owen Bates of Mississauga. Callums brother Ryan placed 12th in the boys 13 & under cate- gory after rounds of 88-101 last weekend in the CJGAs Nike Golf Junior Series/SAC qualifier at the South Muskoka Curling & Golf Club. This weekend, the CJGAs 36- hole Ontario PGA Junior Open will take place at the Blue Springs Golf Club in Acton and several local-area youths are expected to take part. North Halton Golf & Country Club member Candice Swartz recorded two rounds of 92 to place runner-up at the Maple Leaf Junior Golf Tour Ontario Series stop over the weekend at the Osprey Valley layout in Alton. The 16-year-old also earned the Sundog KP award. Another Georgetown teen, Brendan Heinz, finished 17th at the MLJGT event in Alton in the boys 14-16 division with scores of 84- 81. Krusky competed against girls from B.C., Ontario and Alberta ranging from eight to 12 years of age. Krusky was first on the beam (13.4), second on floor (13.25), fourth on vault (13.00) and bars (11.75). She travelled with the Team of Ontario Gymnasts, but competed individually.
