On hand were (front, from left) Christine Williams, Emily Dimytosh of Christ the Kings Club Green, Lillian Taggart, president of Georgetown Horticultural Society, Halton Hills Mayor Rick Bonnette, Vicki Dynes, chair of the Georgetown Allotment Gardens, Anne Johnston and Pete Koperdraad. In back, Ward 3 Councillor Dave Kentner, Betty Kooperdraad, Angela Hohban, Christ the King teacher Mark Knowlton, Halton Hills Wards 3-4 Regional Councillor Jane Fogal, and Halton Hills Director of Recreation and Parks Terry Alyman. The allotment gardens have been developed in co-operation with the Town in a designated section of the park, with the Georgetown Allotment Group entering into an agreement with the Town for the management of the space. Initiated by members of the Georgetown Horticultural Society, the allotment gardens allow those who have limited garden space to grow vegetables at home the opportunity to socialize with other garden enthusiasts. Construction of the area was undertaken as part of the overall Dominion Gardens Park works, with much of the manual labour provided by the Georgetown Allotment Group members and Christ the King Catholic Secondary School students.
