WIN $500 in FREE* GAS Acton/Georgetown, Friday, July 11, 2008 5 The president of the company that owns Georgetown Medical Centre would like to expand the building, but is looking for firm commitments from tenants before going ahead. Syl Carle, president of North Halton Holdings Inc., said their proposal is to expand the building, located on Princess Anne Dr. adjacent to the hospital, by 18,000 sq. ft. The building is currently 12,000 sq. ft. He said the plan is to expand in two phases, which could occur simultaneously, depending on how many medically-related tenants would like to move in. The first phase would be adding a 10,000 sq. ft. third floor on the existing footprint of the building. That would result in the third floor overhanging the rest of the building, which Carle said would be filled in during the second phase when the actual footprint of the building would be expanded by 4,000 sq. ft. (on the first and second floor). We are ready to go as soon as we have commitments from our tenants, said Carle. He said a commitment for 60 per cent of the space in the first phase alone, or both phases, would be enough incentive to go ahead. Carle said they do have serious interest from tenants and many of the current tenants are cramped. Some of the medical tenants are consider- ing leaving to go into a larger space, said Carle. The goal of expanding the building he said is to keep all the health-related services under one roof. He doesnt think the expansion would neg- atively impact the neighbourhood. I think it would be positive, he said. Carle said no zoning change on the property would be required for the expansion and all that would be needed would be site plan approval. We could conceivably have our application to the town as early as September, said Carle, adding that construction could start early next year. Any potential medically-related tenants are asked to contact Carle at 416-305-9901 or e- mail him at syl.carle@northhaltongroup.com.
