Acton would be on the line and a stop is being considered for that community, but there is no guarantee there would be one. The Acton area is part of the greenbelt, said Greg Ashbee, manager of GOs rail expan- sion program. He said that designation impacts on future development prospects for Acton. The demand for a stop there is not as high as it once was, said Ashbee. The train would travel on the Guelph-Exeter Railway line through the communities of Acton, Rockwood, Guelph, Breslau to Kitchener. An Environmental Assessment is currently underway that will look at what infrastructure would have to be built on the line between Georgetown and Kitchener and provide an esti- mate of costs and impacts on communities and the environment. The EA is slated for comple- tion next March and Ashbee said they hope to hold public information centres this September. Ashbee said GO is quite serious about extending the line and its part of the provincial governments MoveOntario 2020 program that will deliver several rapid transit initiatives in the GTA and Hamilton over the next 12 years. We have done a study on it and we feel there is sufficient demand, said Ashbee. The one-week program gave kids, aged 7 to 12, an opportunity to learn about art history, work in clay, watercolours and acrylic, as well as create some ceramics. The week culminated with an art show.
