Focusing on Business of the Month The recipients for this quarter are:Quik Auto Repair (April),Patricks Barbershop and Mens Hairstyling (May), Fire & Ice Jewellery Emporium (June). Congratulations to all of you! Quik Auto Repair 354 Guelph Street, Unit 21, Georgetown, Ontario, L7G 4B5 905.877.8220 E-mail: quikauto@bellnet.ca Quik Auto Repair was started 23 years ago (January 1985) by Clay Downes. The business was originally registered as Quik Lube Ltd. and that is still its current legal name, but it was quickly overwhelmed with lube jobs when Clay really wanted the main focus to be on auto repairs, so he changed the public name to Quik Auto Repair and thereby shifted the business focus. The major business today is evenly split between auto repairs and Krown Rust Control. They spray a lot of cars, and if done every year from when a new car is acquired, rust can be effectively kept away; and it will always prolong the life of your car from the time you begin treatment. Approximately 80% of the work is repeat business in both auto repairs and rust control because what they do for their customers works. According to Clay, they have wonderful customers, many of them now from the second generation. Clay and Bruce are able to help their customers understand their vehicle operating systems, and take the time to explain those systems using the CarQuest Illustrated Guide to 14 Automotive Systems. Quik Auto Repair is CAA approved and is focused on keeping its customers vehicles operating safely and effectively. Congratulations its working! Fire & Ice Jewellery Emporium 310 Guelph Street, Unit 5, Georgetown, Ontario L7G 4B1 905.873.4405 E-mail: sjdleblanc@gmail.com Walking into Fire & Ice Jewellers immediately lets you feel that you have been transported into the realm of both beauty and order. The store is beautifully and attractively laid out; the merchandise is of good quality and tastefully displayed. Fire & Ice Jewellery Emporium opened in 1992 at its present location. The name Fire and Ice actually describes the totality of the operations because they do both in-house design and re-configuration work. This represents approximately 40% of their business and helps bring in a good deal of the remaining 60%. As with any successful business, a focus on customer care ensures that much of the sales are from repeat business. Edgar has friendly and knowledgeable staff with a keen interest in what they are doing (and a passion about it!); this ensures that the customers receive the degree of attention they expect and deserve. The suitability of staff goes back to Edgar knowing the business, being passionate about it, and recognizing those who feel the same way. This commonality keeps them together and ensures consistently good service to the customers. Congratulations on a job well done! Every month, Chamber members and local residents have the opportunity to nominate a local business for the Chambers Business of the Month award. The criteria for selection are: quality of service, unique products, and/or civic involvement which benefits the community. Companies are selected regardless of Chamber membership, and the Chamber presents each of the recipients with a plaque.
