Battle of the Bands entries call Lee at 905-877-9550 Independent & Free Press, Wednesday, August 20, 2008 19 Three Acton artists and one from Georgetown will join eight others to share their vision of Crawford Lake and Mountsberg Conservation Areas Through the eyes of an artist on today (August 20) until August 24, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Watch local artists create new pieces inspired by the parks. Interact with them and learn how an artist practises his or her craft as they work in studio. Existing works by the artists will also be on display and for sale. Crawford Lakes featured artists include Georgetowns Barbara Ariss, Actons Darla Fisher-Odjig and Jennifer Osborn. Fisher-Odjig will lead Art from the Heart (Tiny Object Teachings T.O.T.) on August 23, 1- 3 p.m. Parents will learn about their chil- dren's individuality and creativity by letting them take the lead in this workshop on found art. Children will explore the gifts of mother nature and assemble them into a beauti- ful piece of art to take home! No additional materials required. On August 24, 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Barbara Ariss will take children around the Crawford Lake gathering materials for a three-dimensional col- lage. Then, 1-3 p.m. Acton artist Jennifer Osborn will lead Nature Mandalas Using colour, design, pattern, and symbolism you will learn how to create something per- sonal from the things you have found and observed around you. Acton potter Barbara VanSickle is one of the featured artists at Mountsberg and presents Pottery for Kids, on August 24, 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Children will learn to create and embellish their own pinch or coil pot to take home.
