Acton/Georgetown, Friday, August 22, 2008 3 Halton Police have charged a man in con- nection with a break and enter into a shed on a Tenth Line property. Police say a friend, who was taking care of the property for the homeowners while they were away, stopped to check on it about 3:20 p.m. Tuesday when he saw a man in a shed. He contacted police. When police arrived they found the man still in the shed. Police say the man became confrontational and threatened to harm himself. Officers were able to negotiate with the man and arrest him. Police believe the man may have been stay- ing in the shed for some time. A lock had been broken to gain entry. The man was taken to Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital for an assessment, released, then held for bail. Charged with two counts of break and enter is Darrin Rosenberger, 43 of no fixed address. Approximately $5,000 worth of damage was caused to a 2006 Toyota parked at a Tanners Dr. residence sometime late Sunday or early Monday. The car was scratched extensively. Police blotter Officers arrest man found in shed Town Treasurer Ed DeSousa recently assured Halton Hills council that numerous safeguards are in place to prevent credit card abuses, as the civic leaders renewed a five-year purchasing card con- tract with the US Bank Canada recently. In 2007, close to 8,100 transactions, totaling $1.7 million were billed to the US Bank Purchasing card about 7 per cent of Towns overall purchases for the year. Acton Councillor Mike OLeary asked DeSousa to outline the program, citing the recent publicity over the exorbitant expenses of the Toronto Catholic School Board trustees. It is important to keep in mind that these credit cards do not have any cash advances, theyre strictly purchasing cards for Town pur- chases, said DeSousa.
